Located in the South West of the Europe , Portugal is one of the most visited places in Europe. Having on mind that has wonderful resorts , beaches and amazing friendly people Portugal is one of the place that you must visit. I took one of those packages flights with included acomodation in one of the most famous places in Portugal – Algarve. That was my first destination in this wonderful country, The Algarve, Portugal’s southernmost region, is known for its sunny Mediterranean climate and its beach and golf resorts. Whitewashed fishing villages on low cliffs overlooking sandy coves were transformed in the 1960s tourism boom, and nowadays its central coast between Lagos and Faro is lined with villas, hotels, bars and restaurants. The western Atlantic coast and rugged interior are less developed. Faro is the capital city of this region and one of the most vibrant cities in that area. If you want to go out or have a busy night thats the place to go 🙂 .
I took a car in Faro and i want to move up north all the way to the capital of the country Lisbon. I was driving through some amazing places, on the left side is constantly Atlantic rocky coast and on the right landscape is changing from small hills and vineyard to small fishing villages and fancy resorts for tourists that come in really big number every year.
After i pass 278 km , 2.5 hour driving i arrive in capital Lisbon. Lisbon, Portugal’s hilly capital, is a coastal city known for its cafe culture and soulful Fado music. From imposing São Jorge Castle, the view encompasses the old city’s pastel-colored buildings, Tagus Estuary and the Ponte 25 de Abril suspension bridge. Nearby, the National Azulejo Museum displays 5 centuries of decorative ceramic tiles. And just outside Lisbon is a string of Atlantic beaches, from Cascais to Estoril. Everywhere you can see some nice relaxing coffee bars where smiling people drink there coffee, people seat outside on the benches talking ( loud of course like all Mediterranean nations 🙂 ). I was staying a bit in the city, in Lisbon you can find great accomodations for not much money. Im using like in most cases Airbnb where i can find around 20-25euro day and apartment , worth to try plenty of host in Lisbon. After two days i move up north to visit one of the wine region and port Porto.
More than 300 km and around 3 hours drive from Lisbon is Porto. Porto is a coastal city in northwest Portugal known for its stately bridges and Port wine production. In the medieval Ribeira (riverside) district, narrow cobbled streets wind past merchants’ houses and cafes. São Francisco church is known for its lavish baroque interior with ornate gilded carvings. The palatial 19th-century Palácio de Bolsa, formerly a stock market, was built to impress potential European investors.Tasting wine, going out at night and having relaxing time on the Atlantic coast is things that you can do here. People are warm and friendly like in whole country.
Portugal has great weather , summer temperature with around 30 C , spring temperature and autumn around 20 c and winter not going under 10 C offer a great time when ever you come here. Best period in my opinion is spring, Lisbon, Porto and Algarve area are connected with flights from London, Paris and some other places in Europe with cheap flights like Easy Jet , Ryan Air and Wizz air .
Hope this article will inspire you to go and visit Portugal.
