We are again in this period of the year when we think about where we should go for Valentine. We made a list of 5 best places to be for this romantic holiday.
It would be a nearly impossible challenge to find a spot on the Amalfi Coast that isn’t romantic, but Positano is a village that may be the best of all when it comes to romance. This glamorous seaside town perfectly blends pastel colored buildings that spill down the mountain, winding streets, idyllic beaches and breathtakingly blue waters, not to mention absolutely stunning sunsets. Positano is one of those destinations that was made to order for a romantic escape with a skyline that still looks like it did a century ago as the strict building codes have kept out modern construction. While there is little else to do but browse the local markets and shops, eat, spend time on the beach and take in the views – what more do you really need?
Miami is made an even richer place when experiencing it with a partner, so Valentine Day make the ideal time for a getaway here. Start with a visit to Villa Vizcaya, a circa-1916 Mediterranean Revival mansion and the city’s most romantic attraction. For more glamorous nostalgia, swing by the YoungArts building, known for its eye-popping tile murals and public exhibits in the main lobby. Last-minute gift purchases can be had in the Design District, which is rich in luxe boutiques, or go for an art stroll in Wynwood Walls followed by a stop at the Perez Art Museum Miami. Finally, HistoryMiami is offering boat tours of the boating shack community known as Stiltsville, and this unique glimpse of Biscayne Bay is sure to cement the mood
3.San Juan, Puerto Rico
A trip to the beach in the middle of winter might kick-start your romance, and Puerto Rico is a great choice with no passport requirements and quick direct flights from many US airports. Let your love glow in San Juan, a historic city perfect for strolling, lounging and club-hopping at night. The Luminescent Love Package at the San Juan Marriott Resort and Stellaris Casino includes an oceanfront room, champagne, a massage and a trip to the Bioluminescent Bay in Fajardo. This ethereal “biobay” is filled with microscopic plankton that glitter and glow in the water. Keep the romance going with an aphrodisiac in the ornate red and gold dining room at Dragonfly. Latin American and Japanese cuisines are fused to create the most scrumptious and sexy sushi rolls.
4.An igloo for Valentine in Sweden
It may be cold outside, but it will be warm under the reindeer-skin blankets in your igloo at the Jukkasjärvi Ice Hotel in the Swedish Arctic Circle. Spend a sub-zero Valentine Day dog sledding and steaming in your private sauna. There’s even a licensed ice chapel for the ultimate white wedding.
5.Cape Town, South Africa
This is something Mount Nelson has on offer all year—but it’s a great promotion to consider for Valentine. It’s exotic, it’s romantic, and it’s (probably) lightyears away from where you are right now. The hotel’s “Celebrations” package is pretty much what it sounds like: something for couples who have been together for a while, with something to toast to—say, an anniversary. The experience includes spectacular perks such as an hour-long Swedish massage, daily buffet breakfast, a five-course dinner at Planet Restaurant or at the chef’s table, and a tailored turndown service. And yes…Champagne, chocolates, and strawberries will greet you in your room upon arrival.
