It is part of ex Soviet Union and country that is not so known but i decide to post this article cause Armenia offer some unique experience and is worth to be visit. Armenia is a nation, and former Soviet republic, in the mountainous Caucasus region straddling Asia and Europe. Among the earliest Christian civilizations, it’s defined by religious sites including the reconstructed Greco-Roman Temple of Garni and 4th-century Etchmiadzin Cathedral, headquarters of the Armenian Church. Another pilgrimage site is Khor Virap Monastery, in the foothills of Mt. Ararat, just across the border with Turkey.
There is few option for you to enter in Armenia , one is airport in Yerevan the capital city and the bigest city in the country. The other option is by the land through Turkey. Armenia also is bordering with Iran, Azerbaijan and Georgia. This place is full with history and tradition. I went to Armenia two years ago traveling from Turkey via Mount Ararat to Armenia. First thing that i visit was one of the sacred place The Khor Virap is an Armenian monastery located in the Ararat plain in Armenia, near the border with Turkey, about 8 kilometres south of Artashat, Ararat Province. From here you overlook at the top of the Ararat mountain . Monastery is one of the oldest in the region and maybe in the world because of that attract many people to come there.
Next i went to amazing Amberd area . Amberd is a 7th-century fortress located 2,300 meters above sea level, on the slopes of Mount Aragats at the confluence of the Arkashen and Amberd rivers in the province of Aragatsotn, Armenia. There you can enjoy in wonderful nature , lakes hiking in the mountain and beautiful forest.
Armenia is full with old monastery , you can find many around the country i was visiting another one Haghpat Monastery, also known as Haghpatavank, is a medieval Armenian monastery complex in Haghpat, Armenia. The monastery was founded by Queen Khosrovanuysh, wife of the Bagratid king Ashot III, probably in 976. When i finish exploring the Armenian wild nature mostly mountains and forest and lakes i went to the capital city Yerevan. City is combination of modern , old armenian architecture and some old soviet union style of buildings. Its a economic center , political and educational center of the country.
The basalt Matenadaran library, housing thousands of ancient Greek and Armenian manuscripts, dominates its main avenue. Republic Square is the city’s core, with musical water fountains and colonnaded government buildings. The 1920s History Museum of Armenia on the square’s eastern side contains archaeological objects like a circa-3500-B.C. leather shoe.
City has vibrant life , many places to go out in the night and during the day, people are friendly and always want to hang around with foreigners and tell them about their culture.
Best period in the year for visiting this country in my opinion is spring when is not so cold and everything is green around.Summer is also good time to go there in the mountains is fresh and not so hot.
See you next time in Armenia, ancient place and untouched nature waiting for you to explore.
