1. Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt

Sharm el-Sheikh has become Egypt’s resort capital for good reason: the warm, crystal waters and wide beaches are great for swimmers and sunbathers and it’s the gateway to some of the best diving in the world, along the reefs of the Red Sea.
Good to know: If you want a day on the beach but not in the sun, Sharm el Maya offers good shade.

2. Camps bay beach – South Africa

Palm-fringed, with platinum blonde sands (and bathers to match), Camps Bay beach is where the well-to-do and the famous congregate to see, and be seen. This Cape Town beach is all about being gorgeous, from its manicured shoreline overlooked by millionaire’s mansions, to dazzling sunsets and minimalist swimwear.

3.Bazaruto beach – Mozambique

This is the coastline that spoilt me forever. It is over half a century since I first came to know the beaches of Mozambique, the lullaby cadence of crashing waves and the suck of the swell, the sting of salt and sand on hot skin as my mother wrapped me in a towel to calm me. Each summer for the first 10 years of my life we would pack the old Vauxhall Victor with a few clothes and bumper bottles of Hawaiian Tropic and cross the Vumba mountains from Rhodesia into Mozambique then drive 300km down to the port of Beira.

Located off the north coast of Tanzania, Mnemba is a private Indian Ocean island and part of the historic Zanzibar Archipelago. The island offers the best snorkeling and scuba diving in Zanzibar, and there are ample opportunities for whale watching, swimming with dolphins, and whale shark encounters in the island’s clear, warm waters. It’s also the perfect destination for a romantic honeymoon or anniversary celebration.

Tsarabanjina beach: Madagascar

This tiny idyllic island is located off the coast of Madagascar, near Nosy Be. Home to dreamy turquoise waters and powdery sand, the remote beach is also devoid of crowds as the island is only accessible via boat.

6.Lamu- Kenya

The most laid back and relaxing coastal town in Kenya is Lamu, by far. With only occasional braying donkeys and calls to prayer, nothing can disturb the peacefulness travelers will experience in Lamu. What is best, the beaches there are breathtaking, and the town is located very close to a stunning marine national park ideal for snorkeling activities. Shela Beach is one of the most perfect places to chill out and adopt a slow coastal living style.
